The Monastery Le Reclus ( Notre -Dame du Reclus; Reclusum ) is a former Cistercian abbey in the town of Talus -Saint- Prix in the department of Marne, Champagne- Ardenne, France. It is located about 16 km north of Sézanne and 17 kilometers east of Montmirail.
History
The monastery was founded in 1142 by Abbey Vauclair at a place where the hermit Hugues le Reclus lived. It belonged to the filiation of Clairvaux Abbey Primary. 1164 the monastery was laid in the valley of the Petit Morin at the edge of the moor of Saint- Gond on one site, which had placed the Count of Champagne, Henry I is available. Le Reclus remained a small monastery. Despite several destructions it has some medieval buildings preserved. In the French Revolution, the monastery came to an end.
Buildings and plant
The Mönchsbau holds the east wing of the cloister and the Armarium and the chapter room, resting its six arches on two pillars, the sacristy, the Parlatoirum and the prison. From Konversenhaus the foundations remain. From the church, only the flat Choir has received a oculus. From the right transept, the foundations of three chapels are still visible. The abbot's house from 1740 takes the place of the nave.
