Nová Paka

Nová Paka ( German: Neupaka ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 22 km north-east of Jičín and belongs to Okres Jičín.

History

Nová Paka belonged to the rule Kumburk and was first mentioned in 1357, when a new priest was ordained for the St. Nicholas Church. Around this time it was already known as the city " Paka Mlada " ( Jungpaka ). 1563 large parts were destroyed by fire. Raged a plague epidemic in 1586, which is fallen to half of the urban population to the victim.
