Nový Knín

Nový Knín ( German Neuknin ) is an old Bohemian royal city with 1,779 (1 January 2005 ) inhabitants in the region Středočeský kraj (Czech Republic).

History

Already in 1186 it was mentioned as a courtyard, where the Duke Frederick was staying and called Knin contract signed, in which the membership was ratified Moravia to Bohemia. Then signed the Margrave Otto of Znojmo For Moravia. During the Hussite Wars, the city was burned down in 1424 by armies by Jan Zizka. The Bohemian King George of Podiebrad renewed in 1461 the rights of a royal city. During the Thirty Years' War, the city fell after the passage of Sweden in 1639 again to the flames. 1776 Beekeepers school was established by the decree of Empress Maria Theresa in place. The city was also famous gold discoveries in the area.
