History

The beginnings of history are shrouded in mystery. A settlement called Lucidorius is mentioned around the time of the conquest of Gaul by Julius Caesar for the first time. Around 1190 around a first castle was built, which was later expanded under Hugo Noyers, Bishop of Auxerre, to the end of the 12th century to a larger fortification. From 1419 the town and castle were in the possession of the Dukes of Burgundy.
