NSB El 17

The El 17 is an electric locomotive of the Norwegian State Railways NSB. It is based on the DB Class 120 and was ordered in two deliveries of six pieces.

Area of ​​application

The built as a universal locomotive El 17 was simultaneously acquired with the passenger cars of the type 7. By the maximum axle load of 16 tonnes and a minimum navigable curve radius of 100 m they can be used on branch lines. They replaced the NSB El 11 and El 13 NSB. Until the delivery of the NSB El 18 they moved the express trains on the Dovrebahn.

Today the El used 17 usually only as a shunter in the depot Oslo Lodalen and on the Flåmsbana. For use on the Flåmsbana six locomotives were given the green paint of the tourist train ( numbers 2227-2232 ).
