The Obed River is a river in the U.S. state of Tennessee which drains a portion of the Cumberland Plateau. Its river and its tributaries are popular with whitewater enthusiasts.

The Obed River has its origin in Cumberland County, south of Crossville. U.S. Highway 70 crosses the river between Crossville and the municipal airfield. The Little Obed River empties into the Obed River near the bridge of U.S. Highway 70N and the bridge of a disused railway line between Nashville and Knoxville. Shortly after crossing U.S. Highway 127 and Interstate 40 the river.

Following the Obed River flows through a very remote area. It is crossed by several miles of State Route 298 ( Genesis Road). From this point the effluent to its mouth is the Obed River as a National Wild and Scenic River excellent. Its tributaries Clear Creek and Daddys Creek also have this protection status.

After flowing into the Morgan County, meets the Daddys Creek, an ideal whitewater rafting waters to the Obed River. Effluent is the opening point of the Clear Creek. This is also like the Daddy's Creek, in times of high water levels a popular whitewater river.

Several kilometers effluent meets the Emory River from the left on the Obed River. Although the Obed River is the larger of the two rivers, called the river below its confluence " Emory River."
