Oberführer
SS Oberführer (short: Oberf; speech: Oberführer ) was in the German Reich, a staff officer rank of the Schutzstaffel (SS), classified in rank between Colonel B3 and General ranks.
Ranking and insignia
This SS rank was the SA Oberführer assimilated, but stood over the former colonel and was lower than the Major General of the Wehrmacht. In the Navy the rank of commodore was the equivalent to this rank in Army and Air Force contrast, there was no comparable rank. According to today's NATO rank code of the top leaders with senior OF- 5 would be comparable. The base of the shoulder pieces was kept in the fixed location for officers of the Waffen- SS weapons color.
By war's end in 1945 reached 276 members of the SS to the rank of " SS Oberfiihrer ".

In the images of the insignia or badges of rank are shown that were worn as a shoulder boards and collar patches, as well as sleeve badges from 1942 to Tarn or special suits. The mirror-like collar patches with the rank badges were worn on the field gray uniform jacket of the Waffen- SS or the gray tunic.
