The Oberlahnstein train station is next to the train Niederlahnstein and the breakpoint Friedrichssegen one of three railway stations in Rhineland-Palatinate city of Lahnstein. The transit station with 3 platform tracks is on the right track in the Rhine Oberlahnstein district. The adjacent freight depot now forms only an industrial wasteland.

History

A first stretch of Lahntalbahn of Oberlahnstein to Bad Ems was opened on July 1, 1858, but shortly afterwards buried by a landslide and impassable.

The Nassau Rhine Railway Company opened in 1856, the first section of the 1853 licensed Nassau Rhine Valley line from Wiesbaden to Rüdesheim. Due to financial and technical difficulties, the line was extended to Niederlahnstein only on 22 February 1862 to Oberlahnstein and on 3 June 1864.

1862 Ferry pride rock Oberlahnstein was built, which is the right and the left Rhine route linking until 1864.

1879 connection Niederlahnstein branch Hohenrhein was established by the Prussian state railways. This was accompanied by a greater loss of importance for the Oberlahnstein station.

Around the year 1960, the entire rights Rhine line was electrified from Cologne to Wiesbaden.

The heavily damaged in World War II - which was designed by Heinrich Velde - reception building in 1968 replaced by a new building.

May 30, 1983, the stretch Oberlahnstein - Friedrichssegen was shut down and dismantled. Thus, the Oberlahnstein station lost its function as a railway junction in the Rhine- Moselle -Lahn area, which have now been transferred largely to the stations Niederlahnstein and Koblenz Hbf. In December 2007, the electronic interlocking Right Rhine was put into operation. In summer 2008 the second phase of the project was completed and the road section Oberlahnstein - Niederlahnstein connected to the electronic interlocking.

Bahnbetriebswerk Oberlahnstein

As early as 1862 a Lokstation was established in Upper Lahnstein, which later developed the depot Oberlahnstein. In 1962, the depot was disbanded as a separate unit. That same year, the roundhouse was demolished.

Track systems

The Oberlahnsteiner station once had extensive trackage, of which most were on the now silent and unused goods station. The passenger traffic is handled at a house and an outdoor platform.

The numbering begins on the southwest side of the station building.

  • Track 1 is a through track and is situated on the main platform in front of the station building. Here today drive from the city express trains of the Rheingau line (SE 10) Koblenz Hbf and Neuwied.
  • Track 2 is also a transit rails and shares with a 4 track island platform. Here go the VIAS trains from Frankfurt ( Main ) Hbf via Rüdesheim, Wiesbaden Hbf

Operation

In Oberlahnstein station stop only local trains.

In the southern sector of the rights Rhine line ( Koblenz- Wiesbaden) operate until the timetable change 2010/2011 the Loreley -Bahn (RB 10) and the Loreley -Express ( RE 10 ), which were operated by the Deutsche Bahn ( DB). Since 12 December 2010, the City Express runs 10 (Rheingau line) every hour, sometimes even every half hour. This is operated by the VIAS GmbH.
