Obermutten
Obermutten is a part of the political community Mutten in a circle in the district of Albula Alvaschein the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.
The place is accessible by car only by the Schin canyon; when Solis Viaduct branches off a narrow dirt track at the top of road that leads up into numerous bends and an altitude difference of 1,000 meters after Obermutten.
Geography
Obermutten situated at an altitude of 1863 meters on the northern slope of the Muttnerhorns and east of Muttner Höhi on the saddle between the Hinter Rhine and the Albula. It consists of about thirty wooden houses. Some of the original farmhouses have been converted into holiday homes. A hotel / restaurant offers accommodation and catering facilities.
The German -speaking Obermutten as Mutten a settlement of the Walser midst of Romansh communities. It is conceivable that the settlement was established in the 14th century by the barons of Vaz to secure the narrow pass band between their possessions in Shams and in the Albula valley.
To Obermutten heard the deeper Stafel district (1750 m). In winter, the two districts are connected by a ski lift.
Attractions
Monumental is the wooden church, a stop on the Walser Trail Grisons.
Trivia
It became famous for the district in 2011 by an action on Facebook. The promise to attach a photo of a Wall in the hamlet of any fan, triggered a worldwide response. Meanwhile Obermutten about 45000 "fans" (November 2012).
