Oberwart Gunners
The Oberwart Gunners, Gunners short, are a basketball club from Burgenland Oberwart. The club was founded in 1957 as Union Basketball Club Oberwart by Johann Hadek. As the father of the new Gunners which promotion to the Austrian basketball league, Alfred Wertner applies ( died October 2010). In the years 1992 to 1995 the team played in the Bundesliga 2; continuously since 1995 in the Austrian basketball league.
The greatest success of the club to the league title in 2011. During the years 1997, 1998, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2013, the runner-up title was achieved in each case. 1995, 1999 and 2005 won the Gunners the Cup.
