Obliveon

Obliveon was a Canadian thrash and technical death metal band that was founded in 1987 under the name Oblivion in Longueuil and broke up again in 2002.

History

The band was formed in January 1987 under the name Oblivion by guitarist Martin Gagné and singer and bassist Stéphane Picard. A short time later joined drummer Francis Giguère to fill. In the same year they recorded their first two demos. The first in March and the second called Whimsical Uproar ... in September, the band already Obliveon was called at this time. In 1989, drummer Giguère left the band and was replaced by Alain Demers. As an additional guitarist Pierre Rémillard joined the band. Together they recorded the demo Fiction of Veracity.

In 1990 the band through Active Records released her debut album, From This Day Forward. Due to the lack of success of the album, the group broke up but soon from the label. The album was released only in Europe, but was re-released in Canada later on Press Play Records. In 1993 the second album Nemesis followed in self- publication, were deducted from the approximately 5,000 pieces. The album was also later re-released again on Press Play Records. In 1994, Bruno Bernier came as the new singer for the band, so that Stéphane Picard could now concentrate fully on his bass playing. The third album Cybervoid appeared in 1996 on ASA Records, a division of Cargo Records. After the bankruptcy of A.S.A. the band signed a contract with Hypnotic Records to release the album in Europe can. The European version contained a bonus song called Psycho matrix. Early summer of 1998 was the demo Whimsical Uproar republished on Soundscape Music to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the band. In 1999, the album Carnivore Mother Mouth followed. Due to the low success of the album, the band split in 2002 after they played their last concert on May 31. In the same year, the best-of compilation Greatest pits was published. In addition, all albums have been re-released on Prodisk Records.

Style

The first demo of the band is described in Slayer fanzine as "average Thrash Metal", while the second demo is characterized as " more or less cool technical Death Metal". The band describes their music as "cyber- thrash metal ".
