Oddkins: A Fable for All Ages

Night of Magic Animals ( orig. Oddkins: A Fable for All Ages ) is a 1988 fantasy novel published by the American writer Dean Koontz. The German edition was published in 1989.

Action

For many years, Isaac Liebmann (orig. Bodkins ) in his small factory manufactures stuffed animals. He calls her lovingly, "magic animals." The object of the magic animals is to comfort children and to give them joy. The magic of animals call their creator " father Isaac ." For him, the magic of animals are his children.

But one evening dies of old toymaker and all his creations fall not only in deep mourning, but in deep fear: In the basement vault of the factory awakens an evil power. From the old cartons awaken the evil tin toys. By the death of father Isaac they see their chance to build a cruel regime on earth, because they want to enable all children in the world in fear and terror.

To Prevent the evil power the world have conquered Amos, the teddy bear, Skippy the Rabbit, Puss in Boots, Einstein the elephant, caramel walk the dog and the old, a rag doll with the look of an old man to Martha Miller, so that they to father Isaac successor is. Martha Miller has yet to succeed in the same night, then not only the stuffed animals, but also the world are saved.

For the six magic animals a perilous journey through the city at night begins to come to Martha Miller. However, a few tin toys, led by the puppet Rex want to destroy the travelers.

But it threatens even a threat to the stuffed animals: The child- hating Zacharias Zack wants to take over the factory from father Isaac to help the evil power in their plans of conquest. He wants Viktor Liebmann, the nephew of the late Isaac to persuade the factory to him to sell.

Filming

The Warner Brothers Studios acquired the film rights of the book and Tim Burton should make a film of the book.

Dean Koontz was thrilled about it, but rejected the Tim Burton film adaptation from. Dean Koontz feared that his book would be poorly filmed. So he offered Warner Brothers, a book of short stories in order to recover the film rights to his novel.
