Odinstårnet

The Odinstårnet ( Odin and tårn Danish, "tower") was a 177 meter high observation tower in Odense on Funen in Denmark. The steel truss tower was time of its existence, the tallest tower in northern Europe and after the Eiffel Tower, the second highest tower with a viewing platform in Europe.

It was designed by the engineer Odinstårnet Theobald Weber. Construction began in 1934 and ended on May 15, 1935. It consisted of 30 tons of steel and 2,700 tons of concrete. The Odinstårnet was inaugurated on 30 May 1935, and became a tourist destination.

On 14 December 1944, the tower was blown up in an act of sabotage of the Peter group ( collaborators with the German occupying power under Henning E. Brøndum ).
