Odry, Poland

Odry ( German Odri ) is a Polish village in the municipality Czersk in the Pomeranian province, powiat Chojnicki. In the years 1975-1998 the town administratively belonged to the province of Bydgoszcz.

Reserve Kamienne Kręgi

In the vicinity of the place, the Reserve Kamienne Kręgi is (stone circles). This is the largest of its kind in Poland and the second largest in Europe. It is an accumulation of stone circles, probably a cemetery of the Goths from the I and II century AD There are there 10 complete and 2 partially preserved stone circles.

The stone circles have a diameter of 15 to 33 m. In each circuit block is 16 to 29 pieces, which protrude from 20 to 70 cm from the ground. In addition to the stone circles are located on the grounds of the reserve also tumuli. It was here in stone circles and grave hills about 600 graves uncovered.

By 15 September 1958, the terrain of the reserve was declared a nature reserve. This was done not only to maintain the archaeological object, but also for the protection of more than 86 species of lichens (usually only encountered in the high mountains ), which grow to 300 stones. The terrain of the reserve covers approximately 17 hectares.
