OFC U-17 Championship

The U-17 Football Ozeanienmeisterschaft (English OFC U -17 Championship ) is a football competition between the oceanic national teams for male soccer players under 17 years and is primarily used to qualify for the U-17 World Cup. It was the first time in 1983, still held as a U-16 competition and currently takes place every two years. Eligible are basically all eleven current members of the oceanic continental federation OFC. Australia participated until his move to the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC) 2006. Since New Zealand is also in this age group the undisputed number 1 in Oceania. Taiwan ( Chinese Taipei ) was one of (sport) political reasons also temporarily for participants. The mode changed in recent years repeatedly between a round-robin tournament was played on at the first two groups and then knock-out system and a league system where everyone plays against everyone and there was no real endgame.
