Ohrid Municipality

The Opština Ohrid ( Macedonian Општина Охрид ) is one of the 84 Opštini Macedonia and is located in the southwest of the country next to the lake. It is named after its administrative seat of Ohrid and is part of the southwest region.

Geography

The Opština Ohrid bordered to the north and west by Debarca, on the northeast by Demir Hisar and on the east by Resen. Lake Ohrid is the natural administrative border in the southwest and west.

Population

According to the census of 2002 the population was as follows ( in these figures is the former Opština Kosel not involved, since the change in the number Opštini by a Regorm took place later in 2004):

The orthodox Christianity were at this time 46 103, 7684 Islam and the Catholic Church at 131 inhabitants.

Structure

In addition to the town of Ohrid Opština comprises 29 villages: Dolno Lakočerej, Elsani, Elesec, Gorno Lakočerej, Konjsko, Kosel, Kuratica, Lagadin, Leskoec, Livoišta, Ljubaništa, Openica Orman, Peštani, Plakje, Podmolje, Raca, Ramne, Rasino, Rečica Sirula, Skrebatno, Sveti Stefan, Sviništa, Šipokno, Trpejca, Vapila, Velestovo, Velgosti and Zavoj.
