The University of Iloilo (Japanese大分 大学, Oita daigaku, in short: Bundai (分 大) ) is a state university in Japan. The main campus is located in Oita in Oita Prefecture.

History

The (older) University of Iloilo was founded in 1949 by the merger of three state schools. The three were:

  • The business school Oita (大分 経 済 専 门 学校, Oita keizai Semmon Gakko, founded in 1921 ),
  • The Normal School Oita (大分 师范学校, Oita shihan Gakko, founded in 1874 ), and
  • Youth Normal School Oita (大分 青年 师范学校, Oita his shihan Gakko in Nakatsu, founded in 1923 ).

The business school Oita, the predecessor of the Faculty of Economics, under the name Higher Commercial School Oita (大分 高等 商业 学校, Oita Kōtō shōgyō Gakko ) was founded. She was the eighth oldest in the state higher commercial schools in Japan and was renamed the business school Oita 1944. Its campus was used until 1969 by the Faculty of Economics, and he has been since 1975, the campus of the prefectural University of Art and Culture Oita (大分 県 立 芸 术 文化 短期 大学, Oita kenritsu geijutsu bunka tanki daigaku ).

The (older) university was opened with two faculties ( Liberal Arts and Economics ). The Faculty of Liberal Arts in 1966 renamed the Faculty of Education, 1999 then. In Faculty of Education and Welfare 1969 attracted the faculties to the new Dannoharu campus. In 2003, the Medical University of Oita (大分 医科大学, Oita ika daigaku, founded in 1976 ) merged to form the new University Oita.
