Ola Afolabi

Ola Afolabi ( born March 15, 1980 in London ) is a British boxer of Nigerian origin and interimer world champion of the WBO cruiserweight.

Afolabi was 2002 pro and fought mainly in the USA, since 2003 at cruiserweight. He suffered his first defeat in March 2003 on points against Allan Green. On August 19, 2005, he scored a points victory against the amateur world champion in 1999, Michael Simms. In November of the same year he also scored a TKO win in round 7 against Orlin Norris.

In April 2008 he defeated the previously unbeaten Eric Fields ( 11-0 ) by TKO in round 10 On 14 March 2009 he was Enzo Maccarinelli ( 29-2 ) by KO defeat in the ninth round. Then he was given a chance against the reigning world champion of the WBO Marco Huck to compete, but this encounter lost on points.

On 3 March 2012, he won the battle for the WBO World Championship interime by TKO in the fifth round against the Russians Valeri Brudow ( 39-3 ).

The title fight on May 5, 2012 in Erfurt, again against Marco Huck, ended in a draw and Huck retained the WBO world title.

Also a third duel against Huck he lost on 8 June 2013 following points.
