Ola Gjeilo

Ola Gjeilo (* 1978 in Skui, Bærum municipality in Fylke Akershus, Norway ) is a Norwegian musician, pianist and composer.

Life

Gjeilo visited by the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the " Royal College of Music" in London from 2001, New York's Juilliard School. After this training as a composer, from which he graduated in 2006 with a diploma, he wrote in the first line choral works, pieces for wind band and piano music.

Work

He put a selection of own piano pieces as an interpreter for the first time in 2007 ago when he released the album Stone Rose; Five years later came the Piano Improvisations. The also published in 2012 Gjeilos CD with works by the Phoenix Chamber Choir Chorale, Northern Lights, was nortiert in the charts. Gjeilo, who also attended classes in film music, writes music that is influenced by classical, jazz, folk and pop music.

Gjeilo currently lives and works in New York.
