Olana State Historic Site

Olana is one built by American landscape painter Frederic Edwin Church 1870-1891 on a hill near Hudson, New York Castle in the Persian style.

From the building you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. Church began building after he was diagnosed with arthritis and therefore his artistic activity - as far as she was concerned filigree work with canvas and brushes - had to end.

The castle and the surrounding park are managed by the Park Service of the State of New York.
