Olavo de Carvalho

Olavo Luiz Pimentel de Carvalho ( born April 29, 1947 in Campinas, Brazil) is a Brazilian journalist and essayist, who represents right-wing positions, and conspiracy theories.

Life

Carvalho is the son of lawyer Luiz Gonzaga de Carvalho and the housewife Nicea Pimentel de Carvalho. As a child he often fell ill and had to be as long feverish and weak lying in bed, that he had to relearn to walk the age of seven. He describes this period of his life as a period of discovery of the world of thought in which he had found hat to steady physical pain, and fainting.

By the early death of his father Olavo de Carvalho started working at the age of 15, since he was 18, he worked as a journalist. During the Brazilian military dictatorship he joined the Partido Comunista Brasileiro (PCB), one of the Communist parties in Brazil. But after a short time he came out again.

After that, Carvalho dedicated to his " self-discovery " and taught himself in comparative religion, philosophy, logic, symbolism and astrology, which is superior to his statement after a normal academic education. From 1980 until the mid- 1990s, he wrote several books on symbolism, religious and astrological themes.

Since the early 1990s Carvalho writes on political issues. He occupies a very anti -communist stance and writes, for example, for the right-wing John Birch Society, whose conspiracy he shares.

Olavo de Carvalho is widowed and remarried, he has a total of eight children. He currently lives in Richmond, Virginia and works as an international correspondent for the Brazilian magazine " Diário do Comércio ".

Philosophical works

Olavo de Carvalho sees himself as a Christian philosopher. The motto of his work can be seen as " ... a rebellion against the primacy of the collective over the individual consciousness. Other activities

Olavo de Carvalho was editor of the first annotated edition of the entire work of art and social critic Otto Maria Carpeaux and the Brazilian philosopher Mário Ferreira dos Santos. In addition, he also published the first "History of the Brazilian armed forces ".

He is co-founder and president of the " Inter- American Institute for Philosophy, Government and Social Thought ", a think tank. He leads a weekly radio show on the Internet (True outs Peak) in Portuguese, in which he often speaks about U.S. and Brazilian politics.
