Old Man's Child

Old Man's Child is a metal band from Norway, whose style evolved from earlier death metal influences into a symphonic Black Metal with typical thrash metal riffs.

Band History

Old Man's Child was founded in the summer of 1993. Previously called the band Requiem and played primarily conventional death metal cover. In addition to a self-recorded demo in an edition of 50 pieces brought forth nothing Requiem.

After the name change to Old Man's Child, the band realized their love for Black Metal, which decisively shaped the future style of the band, which was not least due to the becoming part of the former Dimmu Borgir bassist - Brynjard Tristan. After the release of their demo in Shades of Life the scene caught the attention of Old Man's Child. It followed a 1995 debut album Born of the Flickering, whose production by Shagrath, was the vocalist of Dimmu Borgir supported.

From this point, the members of the band changed constantly, the only constant member besides " Master Mind " Galder was Jarder. However, one reason for this is Galder commitment as a guitarist and songwriter with Dimmu Borgir. In the fall of 1997, the second album The Pagan Prosperity appeared via Century Media. With again changed line-up in 1997, then toured together with Rotting Christ and Sacramentum.

The key to a certain degree of success, finally published in 2000 placed the fourth album Revelation 666 - The Curse Of Damnation is, which was produced by Peter Tägtgren ( Hypocrisy ) in his Abyss studio. The album Vermin was created in collaboration with the drummer Reno H. Kiilerich while Galder took over all the other instruments in the studio. The most recent album Slaves of the World shows Galder musically much more mature and progressive.

At present Old Man's Child Only from Galder and from album to album changing drummers. Since the summer of 2000 Galder is also lead guitarist in Dimmu Borgir what Old Man 's Child currently rather gives the status of a studio side project.
