History

The integrated municipality was formed with the community to reform in July 1972 with the member communities Burweg, Estorf, Hein Bockel, Kranenburg and Oldendorf.

On 1 January 2014, it merged with the integrated municipality Himmelspforten the new Samtgemeinde Oldendorf - gates of heaven.

Samtgemeinde Mayor

In the last mayoral election, the non-party candidate and trained graduate management and business administration Scharbatke Thomas was able to beat Hans Willi Heinsohn from the voter community. Scharbatke was supported in the election of the CDU, SPD and Greens. His term of office ended on 31 December 2013.
