Oleg Ogorodov

Oleg Ogorodov (* July 16, 1972 in Tashkent ) is a former Uzbek tennis player.

Career

Ogorodov celebrated first on the second-rate Challenger Tour success. In individual, he won four titles in his career, in a double seven more. On the ATP Tour, he was also able to win a title: he won in 1999 on the side of Marc Rosset at his home tournament in Tashkent. Previously, he was back in 1997 in another ATP final in Chennai. At Grand Slam tournaments he reached the second round at the French Open in 2002, which is his best result. His highest singles ranking in the world rankings, he reached on 13 May 1996 with position 101 in the double he was ranked 102 in July 1997.

In 1996 he took part in the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. He took it to both the individual as well as in the doubles competition. In individual he met in the opening round of the Hungarian Sándor Noszály, which he defeated in straight sets. In the second round of the American MaliVai Washington, however, he was beaten in straight sets as well. In the doubles competition he lost already in the Aufktaktrunde on the side of Dmitri Tomaschewitsch without a fight the Czechs and Jiří Novák and Daniel Vacek.

Ogorodov played between 1994 and 2003 a total of 29 matches for the Uzbek Davis Cup team. Both his solo record with 36:14 victories as well as his double record with 17:10 victories is positive. With these 53 victories, he is the most successful Davis Cup player in his country and beyond even the record player.
