Oliver Friggieri

Oliver Friggieri ( born 1947 in Malta ) is a Maltese writer and university teacher. He writes on Malti, English and Italian.

Life

Friggieri studied philosophy and literary studies. After the master's degree he earned his doctorate Maltese literature in the art.

He is a member of the Association Internationale des Critiques Littéraires in Paris, and a founding member of the Academia Internationala Mihai Eminescu in Craiova, Romania. Much of his work of over thirty own publications have been translated into several European languages. Friggieri has won several international competition prizes, including the Premio Mediterraneo Internazionale from Palermo ( 1988), and the Government of Malta Literary Award (1988, 1996, 1997).

Oliver Friggieri is Professor and Director of the Department of Maltese at the University of Malta.

He lives and works in Birkirkara, Malta.
