Olomouc District
The Okres Oloumouc ( German district of Olomouc) is a town in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. The Okresy were roughly comparable to the districts in Germany, the district administrations were dissolved on 31 December 2002.
The largest district of the district is located in northern Moravia and covers the area north of the city of Olomouc as well as parts of the Oder Mountains as well as the level of Hornomoravský úval, through which the river flows March with its tributaries.
Covering an area of 1,620 km ² approximately 228,800 people living in 95 communities ( Obec ). 55 percent of the area is used for agriculture, 27 percent forested.
History
On 1 January 2005 the district were the places Huzová, Moravian Beroun and Norberčany that the Okres Bruntál previously belonged assigned.
In January 2015 arise from the reduction of the training area Libavá the communities Luboměř pod Strážnou and Město Libavá.
Attractions
Oloumouc is an important tourist area with many castles, palaces, cathedrals, churches, museums and galleries. The most important role is played by the county town with a number of Roma Niken, Gothic and Baroque monuments ( Market Fountain, Palace of Přemyslids, archbishopric, Cathedral of St. Mauritius with the largest organ in Europe, the monastery complex Klášterní Hradisko, the pillar of the Supreme Trinity, since 2000 on the UNESCO World Heritage Site is one ). There are also numerous natural landscapes with rare plants and an interesting fauna, through the numerous hiking and biking trails remote.
