Name

One famous legend, there was in what is now the modern city of Olongapo once a group of warring tribes. Have an old man who recognized the dangers of disunity, it came with a lot of effort to unite the warring tribes. However, he had opponents who recanted his idea onto the bitterest and one day the man disappeared without a trace.

After a long search, the old man's body was found, but no head. The tribesmen presented on search parties to find the man's severed head. ( It should have been also reported that for the inhabitants Sambals the decapitation was the only permissible method of execution In the sambal, it was customary to kill those who have taken the life of another human being, . Unless it was by decapitation. however ) These efforts proved to be futile, and the search was eventually canceled. However, a boy would not stop searching until he found the head of the elders. He searched for weeks and one day he found the head of the elders on a bamboo pole sticking. When he saw the head of the boy, " Olo nin apo ran! ! Olo nin apo " screaming ( which translates as " head of the elder "in Sambal means, to Tagalog translates as" ulo ng apo " ) to his people back. He ran hysterically from village to village.

In this way, Olongapo got its name. From that day on the old man's head was a sign of solidarity of people in the modern city.
