Omar Bliadze

Omar Bliadse (Georgian ომარ ბლიაძე; born March 31, 1942 in Tbilisi ) is a former Soviet wrestler Georgian origin. He was European champion in 1968 in Greco-Roman wrestling in the middleweight division.

Career

Omar Bliadse grew up in Georgia and began with the rings. After the first major successes at the national level, he was delegated to a large central sports club "Dynamo" Tbilisi. He grew to become excellent and counted on the mid-1960s to the best Soviet wrestlers in Greco-Roman. Style at middleweight. Still, it was not easy for him in the USSR against his enormously strong competitors such as Anatoly Kirov, Alexander Jurkewitsch, Anatoly Kolesov or Valentin Olenik, the list could be expanded as desired, to enforce and to come to some takeoffs at international championships.

He was employed at the European Championships in Västerås 1968. He was there, what it can and has been with three wins and a draw against wringing out tactically Krumow Petar from Bulgaria European champions. The next start at an international championship was in 1969 at the World Championship in Mar del Plata. Because now a new division of the weight classes was carried out, Omar had to work off many kilos to start again at middleweight can. This had a negative impact so far for him, that he, weakened by many detraining, lost on points this time against Petar Krumow and Vice World Champion was "only".

After this European Omar Bliadse occurred only in the light heavyweight ( class up to 90 kg body weight ) on. In this weight class but dominated his compatriot Valery Resanzew the Ringer happening in the Soviet Union and in the world. As Resanzew 1972 paused at the European Championships in Katowice because of the preparation for the Olympic Games in Munich, Omar Bliadse was reinstated. He returned there again very good fights with four wins and reached the second place.
