The airport Omsk Zentralny (Russian Аэропорт Омск - Центральный, IATA Code: OMS, ICAO: unoo ) is an international airport of the city of Omsk in Russia. " Omsk - Zentralny " belongs to " OAO Omski Aeroport " ( AG).

History

At the beginning of 1929 five aircraft " Fokker C -4" arrived in Omsk. May 17, 1929 the official birth of the airport. On the first working day of the airport took on two aircraft. 1931-32, the airport received the new aircraft "P- 5", " ANT- 9", " K- 5" and " Po -2".

On May 15, 1931, served with the aircraft "ANT -9", civil aviation Moscow - Novosibirsk was opened via Omsk. The aircraft were equipped with a comfortable cabin for 11 passengers, the flight from the Russian capital to Omsk took 14 hours of flight to Novosibirsk took another 3 hours to complete. In the winter of 1931-32 the first flights from Omsk were offered to Salekhard about Tavda. A year later, the local air traffic from Omsk Bolscheretschje was - Tara opened.

Development from 1945

On September 15, 1956, the first scheduled flight of a Soviet jet aircraft reached the airport in Omsk. It was a coming from Moscow Tupolev Tu- 104, which carried out a scheduled stopover on the way to Irkutsk.

On 8 October 1958, the second airport was opened, but which is now used for domestic flights only.

With the development of oil resources in Siberia in the 1970s, the airport of Omsk received a great importance as a hub for connecting flights to various oil fields in Western Siberia, including Nizhnevartovsk. Other deposits have been and are still being served exclusively by helicopters like the Mil Mi -8.

Since March 1997, the Omsk Airport is an international airport.

Further development since 1991 and today's situation

Today, the Omsk airport cooperates with more than 50 airlines. These are S7 Airlines, Aeroflot, Orenair et al Since June 2010, the Aircompany Yakutia flies under the brand Yakutia Airlines several times a week with a Boeing 737-700 at Hannover. Furthermore, since May of 2010 also offers Yamal Airlines direct flights with a Boeing 737-500 on the same relation.

Significant incidents

On October 11, 1984 at 5.41 clock (UTC 7) is one of the largest aviation accidents happened in Russia. The Krasnodar to Novosibirsk Omsk over flying aircraft Tu -154 crashed while landing with three snow plows. 178 people lost their lives.
