Ondenc

The white grape Ondenc was formerly widely used in the wine region of Sud -Ouest in southwest France on the valley of the river Tarn between Moissac and Gaillac. Approved is the variety in the appellations of Bergerac, Bordeaux, Côtes de Bergerac, Côtes de Duras, Gaillac, Gaillac Premieres Cotes - and Vins de Lavilledieu. There it is used as a blending wine. Their wines are fine, have an average alcohol content and a pleasant taste. In fragrance, the white wines are very neutral.

Although the variety is profitable, its cultivation is economically risky, because it is very susceptible to coulure, raw rot and mildew. Add dried by wind conditions it is ideally used. Due to their disadvantages but the variety is hardly in use.

In larger quantities we find the Ondenc only in Victoria, where she serves as the base wine for the production of sparkling wine. One finds the Ondenc even in small amounts in Argentina, Bulgaria, Spain, Croatia and Portugal.

The Ondenc is also processed into distillates, where they can yield excellent brandy.
