Oommen Chandy

Oommen Chandy ( Malayalam: ഉമ്മന് ചാണ്ടി [ to ː ən tʃɑ ɳɖi ː ]; born October 31, 1943 in Kumarakom ) is an Indian politician ( Indian National Congress ) and since May 18, 2011 Office of the Chief Minister ( head of government) of Kerala state. Previously, he had held the office from 2004 to 2006.

Oommen Chandy was born on 31 October 1943 in Kumarakom in Kottayam district of the present-day state of Kerala in a family of Thomas Christians. He has a bachelor's degree in law. His political career began over the Kerala Students Union ( KSU), the higher organization of the Congress Party in Kerala. In 1970 he made ​​his first successful in the parliamentary elections in Kerala as a candidate in the constituency Puthuppally in Kottayam District on.
