Open Content Alliance

The Open Content Alliance (OCA ) is a consortium of companies, non-profit organizations and government institutions, which aims to create a free archive of texts and multimedia content.

The Open Content Alliance was founded by Yahoo and the Internet Archive in 2005 and is seen as a competitor to Google Book Search. The OCA ensures unlike Google Print to the strict respect of copyright of the authors.

As part of the discussion about the Google Book Settlement were many other organizations, the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the National Writers Union, the Open Content Alliance at around major U.S. libraries and educational institution As well.

Meanwhile, the project Open Library has 22.6 million books bibliographic recorded (as of December 2008). 1,046,822 plants are fully digitized. The search is possible on Internet Archive and Open Library.
