Orbita is the name of a satellite television transmission system of the former Soviet Union. The orbital system is usually the first of its kind ever seen. The uplink was from Moscow and was distributed over the different satellites at the same time radiated back the program back to the surface. Since the transmit power was very weak, the signals could be received only from certain stations ( LPDA ) and further terrestrially from there with additional transmitters.

The used " Molniya " satellites had a 12-hour orbit and ( television) and 0,8 / 1,0 GHz submitted in the range of 3.4 / 4.1 GHz ( telegraphy ). They took their operation in 1965, with full availability of all 25 satellites from October 1967. Justified by their low transmitting power they could only transmit either a television or around 100 telephone connections. The covered transmission range extended from Siberia to East Asia.
