Order of Albert the Bear

The Ducal House of Anhalt Order of Albert the Bear was founded on November 18, 1836 by the three dukes of Anhalt- Köthen Heinrich, Friedrich Leopold IV of Anhalt- Dessau and Alexander Carl von Anhalt- Bernburg. Namesake of the Order was the Ascanians Albert the Bear.

Order of classes

The Order originally consisted of three students and an affiliated Medal of Merit in two stages:

  • Grand Cross
  • Commander
  • Knight
  • Golden Medal of Merit
  • Silver Medal of Merit

Over time, there have been numerous changes. Thus, the Collar of was introduced in June 1839. On March 18, 1848, the commander - class has been extended ( with star ) by creating the Commanders First Class. Order decoration

The religious character is a golden circlet, which is described as the Order motto and slogan of the house Askanien FOLLOW HIS COMMANDS Fear God, and.
