Order of Honour (Greece)

The Order of Honor (Greek: Τάγμα Αριστείας της Τιμής ) was founded on 18 August 1975 following the end of the monarchy as a substitute for the Order of George I by the Greek President Konstantinos Tsatsos by law 106/1975 and is at home and foreigners awarded that have acquired in the field of public administration, commerce and industry and the science and arts, contributions to the Hellenic Republic.

Classes

The Order comprises five classes.

  • Grand Cross
  • Grand Officer
  • Commander
  • Officer
  • Knight

Order decoration

The religious character is a silver gilded cross with dark blue enamelled cross arms. In the medallion -turned left stylized head of Athena. Enclosed in the locket by a white enamel ring with the inscription Ο ΑΓΑΘΟΣ ΜΟΝΟΣ ΤΙΜΗΤΕΟΣ is (Only the righteous will be rewarded ). At the back the coat of arms of the Republic with the circumferential inscription ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ 1975 ( Hellenic Republic 1975). The decoration of the Knight's Cross is without gilding.

Carrying method

The Grand Cross is worn on a sash from the right shoulder to the left hip, and with an eight-pointed silver breast star, on which rests the religious character. Great officers and commanders carry the distinction of being neck Orders, Grand Officers in addition to the breast star. Officer and Knight decorate the cross on the ribbon on the left chest.

The ribbon is dark blue with a golden yellow side stripes.

Others

The Order of Honor ranks second of the Greek religious system, and the president is Grand Master of the Order.
