Order of Merit of Brandenburg

The Merit of the State of Brandenburg is the highest award in the state of Brandenburg. He was on 10 July 2003 with the Law on the Order of Merit of the Federal State of Brandenburg ( Brandenburg religious law - BbgOrdG ) donated and first awarded on 14 June 2005, the Brandenburg Constitution.

The full Foundation Wording is:

  • § 1: As a token of appreciation and gratitude for outstanding service to the State of Brandenburg and its population of Merit of the State of Brandenburg is donated. It can be awarded to deserving individuals.
  • § 2: The Order of Merit is awarded in a class. In a calendar year to be awarded usually no more than twenty of Merit. The number of religious holders should not exceed three hundred. The Prime Minister is by virtue of office holders of the Order of Merit. Separating a person through death or any other reason from among the holders of the Order, this circuit can be supplemented accordingly. (Note: A doping is not connected with the ceremony. )
  • § 3: The religious character has the shape of a Maltese cross. The front is enamelled. The centerpiece is a round, pure white and provided with a narrow silver enamel border medallion, which bears on the front of the Brandenburg red eagle. The arms of the cross are red enamel and provided with a narrow silver enamel border. The back of the Order is smooth and silvery, and provided with a centrally disposed lettering BRANDENBURG. Under the lettering will be the year of the award, milled under him the serial number of the awarded Order. The cross of the Order is supported at one, white with red borders ribbon of women below the left shoulder on a tape loop of men around the neck. Others

The colloquial name Red Eagle Order refers to the Brandenburg coat of arms in the middle piece of the Order and is a reference to an earlier Prussian award.
