Order of the Nile

The Nile Medal, Arabic قلادة النيل العظمى, DMG qilādat to al - ʿ Uzma Nile, Nile 's biggest band ', is the highest order of merit in Egypt and is awarded for outstanding services to the nation.

History

It was introduced in 1915 by Sultan Hussein Kamil. Its name refers to the Nile, which is of crucial economic importance for Egypt. The Order is an allegory of the source of the Nile and is surrounded by eight rubies and two turquoises. The ribbon is azure blue with two yellow vertical lines on each side.
