Orkney-Tunnel

The Orkney Tunnel is a proposal for a subsea road tunnel under the Pentland Firth between Orkney and Caithness on the Scottish mainland. The expected length is about 15-16 km.

It is believed that the tunnel should land on South Ronaldsay and will cost a total of approximately £ 100 million. Furthermore, there are also plans to combine The Mainland Orkney with Shapinsay.
