Órzola

Órzola is the northernmost place of belonging to Spain Canary Island of Lanzarote. He belongs to the municipality of Haria.

Townscape

Órzola, with its 288 inhabitants ( 2011) about 40 kilometers from the island's capital, Arrecife, at the foot of the Famara mountains and on the edge of the Malpais de la Corona ( bad land at the foot of the volcano La Corona ). This country was built about 5000 years ago during an eruption of the volcano, as large quantities of lava flowed eastward into the Atlantic.

Órzola has a small fishing port, in the immediate vicinity of fish often hang on long lines to dry. There are several seafood restaurants and also some holiday apartments. A few hundred meters north-west of Órzola the white beach of Playa de la Cantería (also expressed Playa de Atrás ) at the foot of the Famara mountains which is frequented by surfers and surfers. Southeast of the village are small, suitable for swimming coves with white sand, called Caletones.

On the last Sunday in August, a fiesta is held in honor of the patron saint Rosa de Lima.

The closest

Exclusively from Órzola from can be translated with a passenger ferry in about 15 minutes to Caleta del Sebo on the offshore island of La Graciosa. Since the summer of 2009 reversed a second ferry company, the Biosphere Express. Together with the existing social Lineas Romero there every day since almost hourly ferry to the neighboring island.
