The Prefecture University Osaka (Japanese大阪 府 立 大学, Ōsaka - Furitsu daigaku, in short: Fudai (府 大), Daifudai (大 府 大) or Hanfudai (阪 府 大); engl Osaka Prefecture University, for short. History

The University was founded through the merger of three prefectural universities in 2005. The three were the (older) Osaka Prefecture University, the Women's University Osaka (大阪 女子 大学, Ōsaka joshi daigaku ) and the prefectural nursing college Osaka (大阪 府 立 看护 大学, Ōsaka - Furitsu kango daigaku ).

(older) Osaka Prefecture University

The university was founded in 1949 as Naniwa University (浪 速 大学, Naniwa daigaku ). In 1955 she was renamed Prefecture University Osaka. The Naniwa University had five predecessors: two state and three prefectural colleges.

The oldest origin, veterinary educational institution (獣 医学 讲习 所, Jūigaku kōshūjo ), was founded in 1883 at the prefectural Medical School Osaka. Osaka Women's University

The origin of the Osaka Women's University was (大阪 府 女子 専 门 学校, Ōsaka -fu joshi Semmon Gakko ) was founded in 1924 as a technical school prefectural woman Osaka.
