Osiedle TysiÄ…clecia

Osiedle Tysiąclecia is a high-rise settlement and district of Katowice. She is one of the largest high-rise housing estates in Europe. The settlement was founded in 1961, when the socialist Poland, the Millennium of the Polish state celebrated ( Tysiąclecie means Millennium ).

Geography

The housing development was built on the northwest edge of the growing industrial city of Katowice in place of the settlements Sossnina and Bedersdorf and south of the green spaces of the new Silesian Culture and Recreation Park. It covers an area of ​​2 square kilometers, on tortuous road network between the ul Chorzowska in the north ( main road to Chorzów ) and the expressway DTŚ in the south. Through the settlement flows Rawabach.

In the Tysiąclecia settlement, there are many residential towers, five schools, one indoor and two Roman Catholic churches. Features of Osiedle Tysiąclecia are the kukurydza skyscrapers ( maize), which are the highest residential building in Upper Silesia, Poland with 87 meters height.
