Osunlade

Osunlade (born 1969 ) is an American musician, music producer, DJ and label owner. In his deep house productions accesses Osunlade influences from soul, funk, jazz and traditional African music.

Life

He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, Osunlade dealt with music since early childhood. At the age of 7 years he discovered the piano and at age 12 he wrote his first pieces of music. Later he founded several bands and brought a self-taught playing different musical instruments at. In 1988 he met on a trip to Hollywood choreographer and singer Toni Basil know who built it in various musical projects. Among other things, Osunlade was involved in the development of music for the television series Sesame Street. He also produced music for Luca Bercovicis published in 1990 horror comedy Rockula.

He then moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles, where he was from then on worked as a music producer. In 1991 he produced for Interscope Records parts of Gerardo Mejía's debut album, Mo ' Ritmo, which was known in particular by the hit single Rico Suave. The single received by the RIAA as a gold record award.

By Gerardo Mejía chart successes Osunlade new orders received as a producer. In the next ten years he was involved in the production of more than 20 albums. Among other things, he produced songs for albums by Candy Dulfer ( Sax -A- Go-Go, 1993), Eric Gable (Process Of Elimination, 1994), Black Girl ( Treat U Right, 1994), Marion Meadows ( Forbidden Fruit, 1994) Najee ( Share My World, 1994), Freddie Jackson ( Here It Is, 1994) Toshi Kubota ( Sunlight, Moonlight, 1995 ), Eric Benét (True To Myself, 1996) and Patti Labelle ( Flame, 1997). In the late 1990s he moved increasingly out of work at the major labels back in order to devote himself to his own productions.

At the same time Osunlade sat reinforced with the West African religion of the Yoruba and their central tool of coping with life, the Ifá oracle, apart. In 1999 he founded his own music label Yoruba Records. This was followed by first publications under the pseudonym Osunlade, the relation takes on the African deity Oshun and means crown of Oshun. 2000 appeared on the Yoruba showcase Yoruba Records: El Primer Año. His real debut album was released in 2001 Paradigm on Soul Jazz Records.

This was followed by albums on labels such as BBE and Strictly Rhythm. In addition to his studio albums produced and published various Osunlade DJ mix compilations, including Offering ( 2002) and Re - Offering ( 2005). Lived for some time and worked Osunlade in Puerto Rico and later on the Greek island of Santorini, where he was also inspired to his album released in 2006, Aquarian Moon.

In Germany, published in 2011 Osunlades developed to Innervisions single Envision one of the club hits of the year. The Envision Remixes with reworkings of Âme and Dixon were also successful and were made by the readers of De: Bug voted the best single of the year 2011.
