Osvaldo Fattoruso

Osvaldo Fattoruso ( born May 12, 1948 in Montevideo, † 29 July 2012) was an Uruguayan composer, drummer and percussionist.

Osvaldo Fattoruso was the brother of Hugo Fattoruso. Age of twelve he was the drummer of the Hot Club in Montevideo. With his brother Hugo, Roberto Capobianco and Carlos Vila he made from 1964, the Los Shakers. With this group he had great commercial success. The plates of the Los Shakers published in Latin America, the USA and Australia. In many countries, they reached the top positions in the sales charts. From 1969 lived Fattoruso in the USA. He also founded with his brother Hugo and Ringo Thielmann the band Grandpa. In 1981 he returned briefly to Uruguay and settled from the following year in Buenos Aires. In numerous other bands he also made ​​its appearance, worked with various solo artists as a drummer together and participated in international music festivals. He later also belonged to the groups Barcarola and Otroshakers. With the latter group he published in 1981 "A los Shakers ". He also realized projects for example with Rubén Rada, Litto Nebbia, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Alejandro Lerner, Leon Gieco, Fito Paez and Eduardo Mateo. In the 1990s, some common productions appeared with Mariana Ingold, with whom he had taken the plate " Cambio de clima " but after one -time return to Uruguay in 1988. His works have been adapted by other artists such as Charly García, Jaime Roos, Flora Purim and Pedro Aznar. Later, he became ill with cancer and died after many years of struggle against this disease.
