Otepää

Otepaeae ( German Odenpäh ) is a rural municipality in the Estonian Valga County with an area of ​​217.4 km ². It has 4048 inhabitants (1 January 2008).

Besides the main town, the city Otepaeae ( 2178 inhabitants), belong to the municipality of the villages Arula, Ilmjärve, Kassiratta, Kastolatsi, Kaurutoots, Koigu, Kääriku, Mägestiku, Mäha, Märdi, Nüpli, Otepaeae küla, Pedajamäe, Pilkuse, Pühajärv, Raudsepa, Sihva, Truuta, Tõutsi, Vana- Otepaeae and Vidrike.

Otepaeae is the winter sports center of Estonia. With numerous opportunities for winter sports ( cross-country skiing, ski jumping, ice skating) it attracts many tourists in winter. The infrastructure is well developed and has a wide range of accommodation and leisure facilities. In Otepaeae lives and trains among other things, the Estonian cross-country skier Kristina Šmigun - Vähi. As part of the Worldloppet series is here the Tartu Maraton ( ski marathon ) over 63 kilometers from Otepaeae by Elva instead. 2006 has been the church hosted the Orienteering Championships. 2017, the world championships take place here.

On June 4, 1884, the flag of the club was a student Estonians, the Estonian flag was later ordained in the Church of Otepaeae. There also exists a flag museum.
