Othmarschen station

The station Hamburg- Othmarschen is a Grade II Listed station of the Hamburg S -Bahn.

Location and construction

The station is located on the northern edge of Othmarschen and on the south by the United Flottbeck. It is built into an embankment and has a single-track sidings, can turn on the trains, which happens in some S11 rides the line.

The station has two exits, first to the busy shopping street Waitzstraße and secondly to Reventlowstraße or governor place where there is a Buskehre for bus services. Among other things, runs the much frequented Metro bus line 1 here.

History

The station was put into operation on 1 August 1882 subsequently located to the already opened on the 1867 Altona Blankeneser railway stations Klein Flottbek and Bahr field. The building of the railway station and the platform roofing, built in 1897, were declared a national monument in 2005.

In the 2000s, the station was a major overhaul. The historic platform roof was put on new foundations, renewed the platform. Since June 2009, an elevator was added, for a short piece of tunnel had to be built in the embankment.
