The Ottawa River and Ottawa Creek is a 24 km long tributary of Lake Erie in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio and is part of the river system of the St. Lawrence River. It drains an area close to the border of Ohio Michigan on the northern and eastern outskirts of the city of Toledo and ends in Toledo Harbor in Lake Erie.

The Ottawa River is formed by the confluence of the North Tenmile Creek and Tenmile Creek in the city of Sylvania. The 12 km long North Tenmile Creek rises in Monroe County in Michigan and flows south, while the approximately 48 km long flowing Tenmile Creek from west to east and rises in Fulton County, Ohio. After the confluence of the Ottawa River turns to the southeast in the western Toledo, traverses the district of Ottawa Hills, then turn parallel to the Maumee River to the northeast and flows 3 km north of the Maumee River in Toledo Harbor in Lake Erie.

In 2000, a report on the test results of river water in the lower section of the river has been published. Thus, a high concentration of heavy metals was found. As most essential reasons effluents from landfills and canals, as well as the slow flow of the Ottawa River were determined. The City of Toledo is making significant efforts to improve the water quality of the river and its tributaries. To restore the natural course of the river, in 2007 a dam in the Ottawa Hills was dismantled.
