Ottenstein Plateau

The Ottensteiner plateau (also: Ottensteiner plateau Ottensteiner plates) is one to about 376 m above sea level. NN high plateau of Pyrmont highlands in the Weser Uplands in Ottenstein in the counties Hameln- Pyrmont and Minden wood ( Lower Saxony).

The Ottensteiner plateau lies in the nature park Weser mountain country Schaumburg -Hameln around their central and eponymous village Ottenstein ground between Werder and east-northeast of Bad Pyrmont in the west-northwest. In the landscape, the Bad Pyrmont are neighborhoods Kleinenberg, Great Mountain, Oak Born, Baarsen and Neersen, the Emmerthaler community part Lüntorf that Hehlener vilage Brökeln and High, the Ottensteiner municipality partial light Hagen and the community Vahlbruch. Nearby are the tourist attractions Köterberg about in the south-southwest and - beyond the Weser - Rühler Switzerland about the southeast.

The mostly treeless plateau rises about 200 m ( 250-376 m above sea level. NN ) of their surroundings, the Weser valley in the east and the valley of southwestern Weser Creek Emmer in the northwest.

Agriculture and wind power dominate the landscape of Ottensteiner plateau. The beginning of 2004 started twelve districts the agricultural structural development planning (AEP ) Ottensteiner plateau. Since 2005, a rape blossoms queen is chosen every year during the rape flower festival, which is supposed to represent the region. In Ottenstein an oil mill for the production of fuel from rapeseed was built. Between the towns of hiking trails are set up.
