Otterbäcken

Otterbäcken is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province of Västra Götaland County and the historic provinces of Västergötland and Värmland.

The village lies about 30 kilometers northeast of the city Mariestad Vänern in the community Gullspång.

Otterbäcken was early an important trading center for pig iron and wood at lake Vänern. The construction of the railway in the town and port in the 19th century grew rapidly. The place is the only natural deep-water harbor of Lake Vänern, and one of the largest Vänerhäfen with a trade volume of over 500,000 tons per year.
