Life

Otto Heinrich was the third son of the Duke and the Count Palatine Wolfgang of Zweibrücken (1526-1569) from his marriage to Anna (1529-1591), daughter of Count Philipp I of Hesse. In his youth, Otto Heinrich lived for five years at the Danish court, where he became a close friend of King Frederick II of Denmark.

Wolfgang gave the duchy of Sulzbach by his last will to his son Otto Heinrich. First, for 12 years under the guardianship of his elder brother Philipp Ludwig, this resided from 1582 at the castle Sulzbach, which he allowed to renew comprehensively by the architect Adam Black. In his country, Otto Heinrich attended conscientiously to the provincial administration, founded parishes, schools and a public library.

Otto Heinrich died in 1604 without a male heir. Sulzbach fell to his eldest brother, the interim founder of modern Neuburger line Philipp Ludwig.
