Otto III of Ravensberg
Otto III. (* Around 1246, † March 5, 1306 ) was from 1249 to 1306 Earl of Mount Ravens.
Life
Otto III. Ravens mountain is born as the son of Ludwig von Berg and his wife Adelheid Ravens of Dassel. His younger brother Louis was bishop of Osnabrück.
After his father's death in 1249 the succession caused some problems. The guardianship of the brothers Otto III. , Ludwig and Johann took over the Count Bernhard of Lippe. Adelheid mother fled with her children to her Ratzeburg relationship, after Bernhard occupied the castle Ravens mountain violently with his men. Finally, Otto III was. appointed Earl of Ravens mountain.
1264 won Otto III. in the feud with the Earl of Gesmold. In 1267, he participated on the part of Archbishop Engelbert II of Falkenburg at the Battle of Zuelpich.
As a died in 1270 Henry IV of Oldenburg Wildeshausen, the castle Vlotho fell into the common possession of Otto III. and his cousin Henry the mountains.
On March 5, 1271 married Otto III. Hedwig of Lippe.
1277 joined Otto III. a secret alliance with Conrad II of Rietberg, Bishop of Osnabrück, and Everhard von Diest, bishop of Münster, and the Herford Abbey for assistance against the Count of Lippe.
1290 succeeded the Cologne archbishop Siegfried of Westerburg, Gerhard, the successor of Henry to the mountains to move to sell its half of the castle Vlotho.
On July 12, 1293 Otto III founded. with his wife Hedwig in Bielefeld a canon. It was determined that at least 12 canons had to be taken and the right of patronage went to the Earl of Ravens mountain. The existing St. Mary's Church was raised by a parish church to church.
Otto III. died in 1306 and was interred in the pen he founded next to his wife. His son Otto IV succeeded him as Earl of Ravens mountain.

Otto III. was with Hedwig zur Lippe (* around 1238, † March 5, 1315 ), daughter of Bernhard III. Lippe, married. Together they had nine children:
